BLI Celebrates World Environment Day

On June 5, BLI joined the surrounding community in celebrating International World Environment Day, as declared by the United Nations. This year’s theme was “Only One Earth” and aimed to promote individual country changes to support cleaner, sustainable living. While Sweden hosted the official international festivities, Uganda also participated in the action with its own festivities.

A rally took place in Luwero District, the district BLI calls home. There was a marching band and various special guests, including government ministers, religious leaders, and development partners. Right alongside these guests were the BLI Caretakers and staff leaders! Together, everyone planted trees, discussed how to best raise awareness about ecological degradation, and celebrated our common home. See the attached photos of BLI Caretaker Leader Mike leading the charge and planting trees during the celebration!!
